Summary

The journey to 100 friends begins with a single conversation。

Socially anxious high school student Shoko Komi’s greatest dream is to make some friends, but everyone at school mistakes her crippling social anxiety for cool reserve。 With the whole student body keeping its distance and Komi unable to utter a single word, friendship might be forever beyond her reach。

Summer is about to begin, and Komi would love to be able to spend the long, hot days of vacation hanging out with her new friends。 But even though she’s made great strides in her personal quest, her communication issues are still strong enough to ruin her fun。 Thankfully just thinking of her dear friend Tadano is enough to help her calm down!

More of a 4。5 star! This series just makes me really happy。 I love seeing Komi trying to make friends and everything that ensues from it all。Not a lot happens with this one but what I love about this volume so much is that it’s exactly that。 It’s summer break for them and they’re just hanging around and doing things。 That’s part of always my favorite things with shojo manga is the summer。 They’re high schoolers who of course deserve the chance of a break。I can’t wait to read more of this series! Probably my favorite volume so far。 I mean it was super fun and so cute。 I like how Komi might have a slight crush on Tadano。 And I love how he was just slightly anxious around her。 I ship them but I kind of want her to reach her goal also。 Like they’re super cute together。Also her and her dad are super cute, with the fact that they act like each other and understand one another without speaking。 We love that

I dunno。 Maybe this is really a 3 star book, there's not much here that distinguishes itself from other shoujo manga, school-based-stories, but it's my party, I'll laugh if I want to。 Komi Can't Communicate, Volume 3 is about a girl who social anxiety who has made a goal of making 100 friends。 We have, predictably, final exams, summer vacation, beach scene, festival。 Komi and Tadano meet outside of school but they share some awkwardness in sometimes seeing each other and not speaking。 Relatable, I dunno。 Maybe this is really a 3 star book, there's not much here that distinguishes itself from other shoujo manga, school-based-stories, but it's my party, I'll laugh if I want to。 Komi Can't Communicate, Volume 3 is about a girl who social anxiety who has made a goal of making 100 friends。 We have, predictably, final exams, summer vacation, beach scene, festival。 Komi and Tadano meet outside of school but they share some awkwardness in sometimes seeing each other and not speaking。 Relatable, for the thousands of people who have trouble communicating, sometimes to the point of paralysis。I like that we get to meet Komi's family, especially loved the scene where she goes out with her Dad for shaved ice。 You can see that some of what we assume are psychological tendencies may also be hard-wired, genetic, even neurological issues。 But I like the peculiar mom and the grandparents, too。 You see that kids who are socially shy with peers can be very verbal and relaxed and fun with family。 。。。more

SO! CUTE! This volume was so adorable。 I loved seeing Komi be able to access the various activities with her new friends and how she was genuinely able to have fun despite her lack of communication。 Also I loved her closeness with Tadano it was so cute。

I am in love with how this author draws the figures' hair!Um。 Also, neither the main character nor I have much luck with chatting people up without a lot of thought dedicated to the process。 It is rather troublesome。It is enough to make me want to track down the fourth volume of the series。I thought you might be able to get away without understanding much of the plot, just enjoying the eye-candy。 (view spoiler)[Yes, as in scantily-clad girls at a pool。 Most people like those。 (hide spoiler)]It i I am in love with how this author draws the figures' hair!Um。 Also, neither the main character nor I have much luck with chatting people up without a lot of thought dedicated to the process。 It is rather troublesome。It is enough to make me want to track down the fourth volume of the series。I thought you might be able to get away without understanding much of the plot, just enjoying the eye-candy。 (view spoiler)[Yes, as in scantily-clad girls at a pool。 Most people like those。 (hide spoiler)]It is a nice book。 。。。more

This volume of the series is made up largely of short snippets that happen one right after another, ranging from 8 to 20 manga pages each。 That gave the stories a very odd flow, but permitted the telling of some very moving little stories, like the origins of Komi's difficulty in talking to other people。 In this volume, we see that it may be a learned trait, or an inherited one。 It will be interesting to see if it is ever clarified which one it really is。That said, I can't give it a fifth star b This volume of the series is made up largely of short snippets that happen one right after another, ranging from 8 to 20 manga pages each。 That gave the stories a very odd flow, but permitted the telling of some very moving little stories, like the origins of Komi's difficulty in talking to other people。 In this volume, we see that it may be a learned trait, or an inherited one。 It will be interesting to see if it is ever clarified which one it really is。That said, I can't give it a fifth star because the Najimi character is beginning to creep me out。I have to give the creator special credit for the chapter title illustration for Chapter 43。 Given the contents of the chapter, that was both jarring and rather funny, when you take into account Komi's lack of comfort with the task。 。。。more

This is a very cute series。 When I read on I can see how it represents teens and how awkward things can be and how some problems are passed on in families。 I really enjoy these books and I find them to have some good therapeutic value。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I absolutely love Komi and Tadano。 I think we got more of an insight to Komi's family life and I just really adore that Komi and her father can communicate without exchanging words。 There is just something so endearing about it。 I just realized at the end of this volume that Komi only needs 89 more friends to go and I thought we only covered maybe 5? That's good though。 If the author were to flesh out every single 100 characters, the series would drag out forever。 I think the series is taking a I absolutely love Komi and Tadano。 I think we got more of an insight to Komi's family life and I just really adore that Komi and her father can communicate without exchanging words。 There is just something so endearing about it。 I just realized at the end of this volume that Komi only needs 89 more friends to go and I thought we only covered maybe 5? Komi staying up late at night replaying conversations over and over again was just too relatable。

I can't help but love Komi (and Tadano AND Najimi) more and more with each volume。I really adore the wholesome relationship the characters have with each other and I find their shenanigans highly entertaining。While Tadano is painted as the usual nobody protagonist of a romance story (no discernible features so male readers can easily identify with him/project onto him) I actually find him to be an interesting character。 He's kind, cares deeply about others and is good at reading other people's e I can't help but love Komi (and Tadano AND Najimi) more and more with each volume。I really adore the wholesome relationship the characters have with each other and I find their shenanigans highly entertaining。While Tadano is painted as the usual nobody protagonist of a romance story (no discernible features so male readers can easily identify with him/project onto him) I actually find him to be an interesting character。 He's kind, cares deeply about others and is good at reading other people's emotions。 It makes me genuinely root for him - I think Komi and him will actually be a great fit。 。。。more

Komi CAN communicate, it's just really really hard。 In this volume it is revealed that Komi can actually speak, but only to trusted friends, and only very in very brief statements。 She still prefers to write。 She's always in her own head too much and often goes mute, unable to speak。 This volume mostly takes place at the local culture festival。 Komi is tentatively acknowledging she has feelings for her best friend who is a guy that go beyond mere friendship, but erases what she wrote before he s Komi CAN communicate, it's just really really hard。 In this volume it is revealed that Komi can actually speak, but only to trusted friends, and only very in very brief statements。 She still prefers to write。 She's always in her own head too much and often goes mute, unable to speak。 This volume mostly takes place at the local culture festival。 Komi is tentatively acknowledging she has feelings for her best friend who is a guy that go beyond mere friendship, but erases what she wrote before he sees it。 I still enjoy this series and plan to continue。 It might be difficult to adapt this into an anime, but if Hi Score Girl could do it with their non-speaking romantic lead, this series could too, I guess。 Komi is very likable and sweet。 。。。more

I love Komi, this is a rather adorable series that I have been immensely enjoying。 The characters are all quirky without being over the top, and you grow to love each of them, even the annoying ones。 Well done!

I felt the first few pages of this so。 much。my social anxiety makes me think and rethink what I want to say to the point where I don’t reply to people for weeks and I hate myself for doing that but like😭I just don’t want to say something weird or something idiotic or something so I just don’t say anything at all。 I hope Komi learns to be better than me as the series progresses🥺

This was just the tonic I needed after not being able to get library graphic novels for a while。 (I mean, there's ebooks, but I find it hard to read comics and manga on a digital screen sometimes。) Looking forward to vol。 4!
